Senior Adviser, Steffi McKeown, was announced as the inaugural winner of The CoreNet Global NZ Young Leader of the Year award 2021 at the long-awaited Proactive Property Awards in Auckland last Thursday.
The award recognises a young leader “who has shown dedication and enthusiasm for their work, exemplified excellence and is considered ‘one to watch’ in the broad field of corporate real estate”.
Dean Croucher attended the event and accepted the award on Steffi’s behalf, who currently has her hands full looking after her six-week-old daughter Izzie.
Dean thanked CoreNet, the judges and sponsors for their support and congratulated all finalists, noting it was “great for the industry that all three finalists were young woman”.
Reflecting on Steffi’s achievement, Dean highlighted four traits that makes Steffi an outstanding young professional leader. “First, she’s a great human being! Great to work with and have on our team, proving you can be a nice person and successful. Secondly, she’s very humble – there’s no FIGJAM on her toast! She also has an incredible work ethic, as is often the case with standout people. She’s first in, last out and has a great zest to grow and learn. Finally, Steffi cares. She wants to get it right and cares about our clients with a passion for getting the right answer or solution. We’re super proud of the recognition and award she’s achieved.”
In their commentary, the judges concluded “Steffi is in a league of her own, with such strong aspirations. She is a true representation of a person leading the next generation of people entering our industry, and a good contender on the world stage. I was very impressed with Steffi’s positive approach to her career. Steffi has clearly identified her next step goal for professional development and her career progression stretch aspirations were also clearly articulated.”
Steffi was also a finalist for this year’s RICS NZ Young Achiever of the Year award.
