Celebrating a year of growth

05 December 2023, by Katherine Jones

As Katherine Jones ticks over her first year at TwentyTwo, we took a moment to sit down with her and reflect on not only her 365-day milestone in the company, but also her personal growth.

Katherine seamlessly integrated into our Strategy team and windy Wellington (from Christchurch) in late 2022. Over the past year, she has forged her own unique path, solidifying her expertise in analytics and embracing the property sector, working with clients such as IRD, Waitaki District Council, Mitre 10, DIA and Te Puni Kōkiri.

“My role has definitely changed since I started – a transition I attribute to both personal growth and my proactive work style, which has shaped my evolving role. In the initial months, my contributions leant towards a supportive capacity but, as time has progressed, I have assumed more ownership of my work in Advisory and Strategy. I also, now collaborate extensively with the Technology team, focusing particularly on projects such as Utilisation22 which is really fascinating work.”

“My role is so much more diverse than I first anticipated” says Katherine. “I get to work with the Tech team on data analysis and cloud-based portals. There’s also a lot more engaging with clients which had become a real highlight. I’ve had to come out of the corner a bit as I’m naturally more of an introverted person who likes to people watch! In the last year, I’ve become so much more confident in my knowledge and engaging with clients.

“I also started Toastmasters in Wellington. I’m lucky because it’s a really good bunch of people and constructive in terms of feedback.

“My favourite part of the job is problem-solving – and not just numbers! There’s a lot of puzzle pieces that need putting together with Strategy work and I love getting my brain round those.

“One of the best things about working for TwentyTwo is that it’s growing and changing and it’s amazing to be involved in that. It’s really interesting to see. Five people have started since me so I’m definitely not the newbie anymore!

“I’m looking forward to 2024 for a number of reasons. As well as continuing my overall personal and professional development, I’m keen to further my expertise in business cases, to working more closely with our Advisory practice to grow my commercial and property expertise and to developing an increased commercial perspective to connect the Strategy and Advisory teams”.
