NZTA set new standards for their AV and meeting room infrastructure

The Technology22 team was engaged to create a comprehensive Workplace Technology Plan for NZTA’s new workplace office fit-out at Bowen Campus in Wellington. This partnership resulted in a transformative approach to technology integration, enhancing NZTA’s operational efficiency and setting new standards for their AV and meeting room infrastructure.

How we added value

Facilitating effective conversations: We helped NZTA navigate crucial discussions, keeping front of mind their budget and their workplace objectives.

Quality assurance and vendor oversight: Provided quality assurance and oversight to ensure vendors met NZTA’s requirements.

Independent technology insights: Offered an independent perspective on emerging technologies to guide their decision-making.

The brief

The brief was to review the detailed design fitout construction plans, alongside the base building design, and create a technology blueprint that accounted for NZTA’s aspirations wish list, budget and the challenges of the built environment. This blueprint encompassed all areas where technology interacts and connects in their new workplace fit-out, including:

  • Printers
  • Networking
  • Meeting room AV audio visual and video conferencing
  • Digital signage
  • Smart locker
  • Wifi

Workplace Technology fit-out

TwentyTwo was further engaged to support the development and installation of four key areas:

Setting a new standard for NZTA Waka’s AV meeting rooms and events: NZTA faced challenges articulating their requirements to the market, resulting in solutions that were often over budget. We developed a new video conference standard and supported them in implementing it nationwide across 12+ offices, including redesigning their backend and making sure they could effectively manage the solution themselves.

Transition to full Wifi: Past Wifi implementations had failed to meet expectations. We guided NZTA through a process to engage with TAS, the network provider, and developed a design that delivered the required performance, enabling seamless roaming coverage throughout the offices and extensive use of MS Teams.

Digital signage: Transitioned NZTA from using USB sticks connected to displays to a centralised cloud-based platform. We provided training to ensure effective use of digital signage for both internal and external communications and integrated signage with their security system for emergency situations.

Smart lockers: Supported the agency with the implementation of smart lockers to enhance the office’s operational efficiency and streamline asset management.

The collaboration between NZTA and Technology22 has resulted in a state-of-the-art office at Bowen Campus that was delivered within budget. By addressing NZTA’s specific needs and providing expert guidance, we were able to ensure NZTA’s systems are effective, efficient and aligned with their strategic goals. And, as a result, we continue to partner with them to this day helping ensure that their workplace technology continues to improve and remain aligned to the organisation.
